Best Vegan Parmesan
This is the best vegan parmesan ever and has become a staple here at The Veggie Tree, we all love it! Savoury, salty, creamy and packed with nutrition it is the perfect topper for everything from pasta to risotto, pesto to fritters, basically anything you would usually add parmesan to. It doesn't melt but parmesan isn't really a melty cheese anyways, this hemp parmesan gives anything you add it to a delicious savoury creamy cheesy flavour which you will be addicted to in no time.
The secret ingredient is hemp hearts, I use hemp hearts because hemp is a total nutrient powerhouse and their creamy texture and flavour is so delicious plus they even have their own umami quality. I've paired the hemp hearts with the creamiest of nuts, macadamia's, take this savoury sprinkle to the next level. I love to use locally grown ingrdients in my cooking as much as possible and we grow the most incredible macadamia nuts here in Northland.
I've been making this hemp parmesan for a few years now and every time I serve it everyone goes crazy for it. I've had so many requests for the recipe so here it is guys, enjoy!
Plant-based | Gluten-free
Makes 1 cup
Gather your ingredients and prepare the following into the food processor:
1 clove garlic, peeled or 1tsp garlic powder or flakes
1/3 c hemp hearts
1/3 c macadamia or cashew nuts
1/3 c nutritional yeast
1 tsp salt
Pulse until finely chopped and store in the fridge in a sealed jar if you use fresh garlic.
